Canvas - Merging Course Content into a Single Course Shell

This process is not something we are able to set up for you as it requires admin access to your Canvas LMS. Please ensure you have admin access or at least permissions in your Canvas instance to create course shells. If you do not, please reach out to your Canvas Admin for assistance.
Merging of different course content into one shell will affect enrollment data. If you are NOT an Enterprise client and instead pay per enrollment, it is important to know that a single enrollment in a merged course will result in 2 (or more) enrollments in eDynamic Learning courses as each course you pull content from will count.
The content in the units and titles will remain the same, so you will now see two (or more) Unit 1's etc. You can manually edit the Unit titles in the Table of Contents, but the actual LTI loaded content of those items will remain unchanged. For example, if you combine two 8 unit courses, the 9th lesson can be retitled to Unit 9 in the TOC, but the actual content of the Unit will remain "Unit 1".

While our courses are not designed to be merged in this fashion, it is something that can be done in Canvas, though it is not just a case of importing both packages into one shell. If you do this, the second package content will overwrite the first package content. There is a workaround, though, which we will outline below.

1. Create a copy of each course separately per our guide: Canvas - Importing eDynamic Learning Courses

2. Go into the first course and import the content from the second course by using the Importing Existing Content option:

Then you will select Copy a Canvas Course and search for the second. Include all content. That should then bring the existing second course content into the first course.

Once the import is complete, you should see the new content loaded below the existing content.
